Our very first RGF Bubbly & Books was a hit! Ten ladies arrived ready to discuss our first title The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson. As happens at all successful gatherings, we hung out at the kitchen island — eating treats, drinking bubbly, and talking! A fantastic time was had by all.

Some highlights to share are that overall most of us enjoyed reading or listening to the book. Manson’s advice is to choose what to give a f*ck about and what to not give a f*ck about. This resonated with many of us. We agreed that we tend to give too many f*cks about too many things! We shared what our top 3 things would be to give a f*ck about!

On page 78, Manson gives examples of Mustaine vs. Metallica and Pete Best vs. the Beatles. Both were kicked out of bands. Both suffered from the pain of this supreme rejection. But Mustaine was never happy with his success because he couldn’t change his measurement of success. He strived to be better than Metallica and couldn’t appreciate the huge success that he accomplished with his band Megadeth. Best went on to get married, have a family and a career. He was very satisfied; appreciating his family and life. Many of the Beatles never had this type of family success. Best let go of his measurement of happiness benchmark of being as famous as the Beatles. This allowed him to achieve happiness. Mustaine gave a f*uck about the wrong thing while Best gave a f*uck about the right thing.

Next month we are reading or listening to Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. If you’d like to discuss this book with others from the RGF Tribe all you have to do is sign up for our free monthly book club. Sign up in the RGF App under the Vibe with Your Tribe Events tab. Join us on Thursday, February 27th at 7:30. We will be meeting in the RGF kitchen. Happy reading or listening!
