Each month we feature one of our amazing members (also known as Goddesses) as the Goddess Spotlight.
Congratulations to this month’s Goddess Spotlight, Laurie! Keep reading below to learn a little bit more about Laurie and her journey.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by the clients at Beyond Hunger Food Pantry where I volunteer. I talk with the elderly clients, and they are so grateful for everything in their lives. They are so full of memories and stories about their lives. It is wonderful just to listen to them. They inspire me to be even more grateful for all the people and things in my life.
What brought you to RGF?
I was looking for a studio that taught hula hooping because I was doing it alone at home with YouTube videos. My husband, the pole dancer, got an invite to RGF’s first Open House. He did not really want to go because he was tired or something, but I looked at the schedule and saw there were hula hooping classes. We went to the Open House and the rest is history as they say. I, of course, still love my hula hooping but I have tried everything RGF has offered. I have enjoyed all my classes over the years!
What do you enjoy doing outside of the studio?
I enjoy reading and I have just started a neighborhood book club. I love volunteering at the local food pantry (Beyond Hunger). I enjoy gardening, bike riding, and music. I am looking forward to traveling now that my husband is retired. I just finished planning our first trip to Hawaii for February.
What is your favorite thing about aerial?
My favorite thing about classes at RGF are the fabulous instructors and curriculum. I learn something new in every class and I have taken many classes over the years. I love that everyone is so accepting and kind no matter your skill level. I love hanging upside down in the hammock and being able to move and dance in fun ways.
