“What kind of home pole should I get?”

We receive this question often! Keep reading the guide below for more information that you may find helpful. Getting a home pole can be a wonderful supplement to your in-studio journey as it gives you an opportunity to practice what we are learning in class.

Simply put, we recommend these pole brands:

Lupit Pole, X-Pole, or Lil Mynx

These are professional brands that we trust to make poles that are high quality. It can be tempting to want to purchase less expensive poles that you might see available on Amazon. It is important to remember that your safety is top priority – we highly recommend only going with a trusted brand.

We also recommend that you purchase whichever pole you get with both static AND spinning mode! Although you may not be using spinning mode in your classes just yet, the option will be available to you in the future and you’ll want to play at home!

If you are curious, at the studio we have Lupit poles. Prior to those, we also used X-Poles. In general, we prefer Lupit because the quality of the poles is top notch and spinning mode is like butter. You won’t know just yet how important that is – but trust us – seamless spin mode will be important to you eventually!

If you purchase a pole from Lupit, you can save 5% with the code RISINGGODDESS5.

If you purchase a Lil Mynx pole through us, you can save 10%. (For RGF Members only. Contact us for more info!)

“Which size and type of pole is best for me?”

We recommend that you check out the FAQ-pages from each manufacturer – they will walk you through some elements that can help you decide.

Since this is for your home, you are likely going to want to purchase a removable home pole, instead of one that is permanently mounted (like we have in the studio). You generally have 3 options:

  • Removable pressure-mounted pole
  • Removable temporary mounted pole
  • Free-standing “stage” pole

Generally we advise against stage poles unless you determine that your ceiling will not accept a pressure mounted or temporary mounted pole.

In terms of the pole diameter, we recommend the current standard width of 45mm. All of our poles at the studio are 45mm except for one that is 42mm. The 42mm is nice if you have very small hands but it can make gripping the pole with your legs more challenging.

“Which finish should I get for my pole?”

This is a very individual decision. At the studio, we have all stainless steel poles because these are hypoallergenic and durable. We generally recommend that students also get stainless steel for their home poles so that the finish is comparable to what they are using at the studio.

The grip of the pole depends on your skin (dry/moist), as well as on the weather conditions – especially the temperature (cold/heat) and the humidity (dry/moist).

It is important to note that “home” poles are generally more slippery than studio poles because they get less wear and based on the finish put on them. With usage the protecting finish wears off and it becomes grippier.

You will need to warm up your home pole extra long in order to help it be less slippery. You can warm your pole up by doing a free dance on it or sitting on it twisting your hands up and down.

We hope this was helpful and whatever you decide, HAPPY POLING, GODDESSES!
