Presenting Our Goddess Spotlight of the Month… Jennifer!
What inspires you?
I am inspired by pushing the boundaries of what my body can achieve, with the encouragement of my instructors (Sam, Brie, Liza, Carlee, Amy, and Rebecca).
What brought you to RGF?
As a child, I wanted to attend circus camp, but never had the opportunity and put it out of my mind. In May of 2024, I visited the The Ringling Circus Museum and that urge resurfaced, but I was apprehensive due to my body type. At the time, I was on the verge of some major health struggles due to eating habits and sedentary lifestyle. I did not have much success joining a traditional gym or adhering to a home workout regimen. I knew someone who attended classes at RGF years ago, but I still needed the courage to take the next step. So I started following aerialists of diverse body types on social media. I figured if they could do it, so could I, and by June, I had taken teaser classes in hammock and lyra, and decided to officially join RGF. I primarily take lyra and pole classes, but participate in other classes as my schedule allows.
What do you enjoy doing outside of the studio?
Outside of the studio, I enjoy sewing, general crafting, and gardening. I also enjoy participating in the area Faerie Festival, attending different Renaissance Faires around the Midwest, and helping to run a local women’s group.
What is your favorite thing about pole and aerial?
I love the lyra–seeing and learning the range of moves possible, the strength and flexibility it gives me, and the enhanced appreciation for what goes into a professional performance. I also love the RGF community. I love the events, the wraparound questions, and the silly discussions we have during warm-ups. The instructors make the atmosphere fun and inviting, and are patient and accommodating when I find myself struggling.
