As a proud business owner in the heart of Westmont, IL, I always get excited when a new spot opens up in our community. Recently, my husband and I had the pleasure of dining at Whiskey Hill Kitchen, a charming new restaurant that has quickly become the talk of the town. Their brewery, located at 1115 Zygmunt Circle in Westmont, has long been a favorite of ours, so we were stoked to try their food as well. Nestled in the DuPage suburbs of Chicago, this new restaurant offers a delightful mix of craft beers, cocktails, a full bar, and delicious food. Here’s a glimpse into our first trip to Whiskey Hill Kitchen.
A Warm Welcome
From the moment we stepped inside Whiskey Hill Kitchen, we were captivated by the ambiance. Y’all, it’s so stinkin’ cute! The space is truly fantastic, featuring charming chairs and a beautiful bar that immediately set the tone for a perfect date night or a relaxed dinner with friends. They also have a private room for events. The attention to detail in the decor reflects the owners’ passion and commitment to Westmont and their craft. Our waitress mentioned that this location has been two years in the making.
Culinary Delights
As a vegetarian foodie and a Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef (yep, it’s true, you read that correctly), I always appreciate a well-thought-out menu. Whiskey Hill Kitchen did not disappoint. We started our meal with the Brewhouse Nachos, a delightful twist on the classic nachos. Instead of chips, they use sidewinder fries, which added a unique texture and flavor. The cheese sauce was just right, not overpowering, and the BBQ sauce had a perfect balance of sweet and tangy.
Next, we enjoyed the Chilled Blue Cheese Wedge Salad, sans the maple bacon. This classic dish was served crisp and refreshing, making it an excellent choice for a hot summer day. The blue cheese dressing was creamy and flavorful, perfectly complementing the crisp iceberg lettuce.
For the main course, my husband Brad opted for the Slow Smoked Pulled Pork on Brioche. He raved about the BBQ sauce, and the brioche bun added a touch of elegance to the dish. While Brad didn’t touch the fries (a result of our nacho indulgence), he still found the meal incredibly satisfying. In hindsight, we might have chosen a different side to mix things up.
We also ordered a side of Onionettes, which were perfectly fried and delicious. Despite being deep-fried, they felt surprisingly light and were a delightful addition to our meal. They also offer pizza, but we will save that for our next trip.
Cheers to Craft Beers and Cocktails
Whiskey Hill Kitchen’s drink menu is just as impressive as their food. We sampled a variety of beverages, starting with a classic Old Fashioned, which was expertly crafted and smooth. The real highlights, however, were their craft beers. I tried the Lucid Dream, a fruity IPA that was very orange and vanilla-forward. This hazy beer was a burst of flavor and a must-try for IPA enthusiasts. Brad went for the Put a Light On IPA, a New England-style hazy IPA that was equally delightful.
